A PLACE FOR ALL THINGS HOME
About Me
Hi there! My name is Abby Shoen, and I’m thrilled to get to share a bit about myself with you. I’ve always been a creative person at heart, and growing up, my favorite class was always art. However, I wasn’t entirely sure how to turn that passion into a career. While studying for an Ag Business degree in college, I stumbled across graphic design and knew that was exactly what I wanted to pursue.
After finishing college, I found myself back home and working for my family’s feed mill. While I enjoyed the work, I always felt a deep yearning for something more, something creative that I could call my own. That’s when I discovered the joy of repurposing furniture. What started as a small hobby painting pieces quickly turned into a full-blown business building unique furniture items. I would lie awake at night, dreaming up new designs and sketching out plans in my head.
During the Covid pandemic, I met a local advertiser who was struggling with sales due to the economic downturn. Together, we came up with the idea to create a home magazine called The Southern MN Home Creative. Shortly after, we created the Kid Creative, a magazine for children. I fell in love with the process of putting my thoughts and ideas down on paper.
Today, I am still building furniture, still creating magazines, and still running the family’s feed mill. But now, I have the desire to share my passion and creativity with all of you. I’m so excited to embark on this journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Apart from my work, I am also a proud wife and mother of two beautiful little girls who keep me busy and inspired every day.
